2. Open the body shape, copy and paste as new layer.  Position somewhere in the middle  of the canvas

3. Use the magic wand and click inside the shape, selections > modify > expand by 3.  Change your background to #8E5855 and flood fill the shape. Deselect

5. Effects > 3D effects > inner bevel with the soft edge default settings
6. Highlight Layer 1, open the wing shape, copy and paste as new layer.  Change the background color to one of your choice, I used a gradient made from #EDC0E0 as the background and #E8B3FB as the foreground with angle at 45 and repeats on 3
7. Effects > Artistic effects > Impasto with settings: Length ~ 20, Density ~ 47, Brush ~ 256, Width ~ 7, Opacity ~ 93, Softness ~ 80, Angle ~ 101, color ~ #A6937E
8. Effects > Texture > Fur: with same settings as before.  Duplicate the layer, Image > mirror

9. Open the inner wing shape, copy and paste as new layer and position as desired.  Use the magic wand and click inside, selections > modify > expand by 3. Select a gradient/ pattern or color of choice and flood fill  I used gradient AD Lilac_mist. Deselect

11. Open the circle shape, copy and paste as new layer and place on the outer edge of the bottom part of the wing.  Image > resize by 125 pixels, make sure resize all layers is UNchecked and maintain aspect ratio IS checked.
Use the magic wand and click inside the shape, selections > modify > expand by 3.  With a different gradient/pattern on the starburst option on 3 repeats flood fill layer that will still have the marching ants on
12. Effects > 3D effects > inner bevel of choice, I used the Round preset on it's default settings.  Duplicate, Image > mirror

13. Re-open the inner wing shape, copy and paste as new layer and resize by 50% and position as desired, use the magic wand and click inside the shape, selections > modify > expand by 3 and flood fill with another color/ gradient/ pattern.  Keep selected.  (Optional - You can re use the small circle shape instead if desired, keep it the original size though)

14. Effects > Texture > Fur with same settings as before.  Duplicate, image > mirror

15. Open the antennae shape and position, duplicate, Image > mirror and position again as desired.  Merge > merge visible

16. Image > resize 50% and crop your image.  You can stop here, add any text you like and save as jpeg, or continue and put your butterfly into a full color tag by following the steps below.

ADDING BUTTERLFLY TO TAG

a.  Open a new canvas 400 x 300, change the background color to #FFE081 (or your own choice).  Copy and paste your butterfly onto the new canvas. Add a new raster layer, drag it below the butterfly and flood fill with the background color.  Effects > 3D effects Fine leather with the more cracks default setting.
b. Effects > 3D effects > Inner Bevel with the default settings of the frame preset
c. Highlight the butterfly layer and resize by 65% and position as desired.

d.  Add your accents, resize anything you need.  Highlight the butterfly layer, effects > 3D effects > drop shadow with settings: vertical ~ 1, horizontal ~ 6, opacity ~ 50, blur ~ 5, color ~ black
e. Open your font and with create as vector and antialias both checked, add your font, resize and position as desired.  Convert to raster layer when happy.  If you want an inner bevel, select one of your choice.

f. Add a new raster layer for your watermark and save as jpeg.

Alternatives

I added a layer below the butterfly on the main canvas instead of opening a new blank canvas.  I also used Filters Unlimited plugin on parts of the wing, yarn pattern background on the canvas and some stitches on the butterfly.  I also used a Gradient Glow around the butterfly instead of a drop shadow.

I used Filters Unlimited on all the the butterfly on this one
